One important factor to look at when caring for jewellery is the type of metal used, we use gold plated, stainless steel, gold filled and solid gold metal. The care for the jewellery will depend on the type of metal and therefore should be considered when purchasing that particular product. Below we will go into detail for the proper care for your particular piece. 

14k Solid Gold

Solid gold is a precious metal which will not oxidise or discolour. It is an active lifestyles best friend as it doesn't bend as much 18k Solid Gold Jewellery will and can be worn everyday. To be conscious of our environmental impact all our Solid Gold range is made from 100% recycled metal.

How to Care for 14k Solid Gold Jewellery

  • Lightly scrub with soft bristle brush with warm water and detergent free soap.
  • Gently buff with a cleaning cloth.
  • Store in a safe, dry place when not worn to protect it from the natural elements. 

Permanent Jewellery

Our permanent jewellery does not require much care! Just make sure to keep it away from harsh chemicals, when needed polish your permanent jewellery with a microfibre cloth and that's all the care it needs!

14k Gold Filled 

Most of our products are made from gold-filled over gold plated findings as its far more durable and tarnish resistant. Caring for gold filled jewellery is easy but you need to be aware of what may cause it to tarnish and give it a clean when necessary. Here are some tips to keep your jewellery in great shape for many years!

How to care for 14k Gold Filled Jewellery

  • Ensure your take off your jewellery at night.
  • Remove your piece before showering, swimming, going to the gym or beach!
  • Put the piece on after the application of perfume, lotions and hairsprays.
  • To clean use a soft jewellery cloth that is meant for gold.
  • When not wearing it store it in a soft fabric lined jewellery box or place it in our pouches/boxes we provide.

14k Sterling Silver/Sterling Silver

Every piece of sterling silver jewellery is stamped with S295. Sterling Silver will oxidise with elements, so be sure to take extra care for these pieces.

How to care for 18k Stainless Steel Jewellery

  • When not wearing it store it in a soft fabric lined jewellery box or place it in our pouches/boxes we provide.
  • If it needs a polish use a soft polishing cloth and it will come back to life. 

Pearls

All of our pearl pieces are handmade in Aglaea HQ, where our in house specialist beads and Knots the pieces just for you! These pieces can be sensitive so sometimes require extra care.

How to care for your Pearls

  • Ensure you take off your pearls at night, before showering, swimming, going to the gym or beach. Beware of fake tanning as this can stain the pearls.
  • Avoid excess chemicals or temperatures when cleaning.
  • When not wearing your pearls, store them in a soft fabric lined jewellery box or place it in our pouches/boxes we provide.
